Carrie Hisatomi, LAc is a native Portlander. Her practice incorporates all aspects of Chinese Medicine, including Acupuncture, Chinese Herbal Medicine, Dietary Therapy, Qigong Meditation and Therapeutic Massage. She specializes in gynecology, women’s health and fertility as well as neck, back and hip pain, migraines, digestive problems, weight gain and depression. She grew up with a desire to help and heal people and in practice uses all of her resources to help each individual find solutions to come into balance.
She earned her master’s degree at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, and then travelled to Nanjing, China, for post graduate studies at three hospitals in the Jiang Shu Province. She found inspiration in finding integrative medicine in action, with traditional medicine of herbs, acupuncture and massage working alongside modern Western medicine. This further ignited her passion to support a medical system that works in collaboration to help all people attain their best possible health.
Carrie holds a national license to practice Chinese Herbal Medicine and regularly incorporates Chinese Dietary Therapy to effect even greater change. She studied Shiatsu and Tuina massage for three years, and utilizes meditation and visualization to help support individuals become a part of their own healing.
After starting a private practice in Portland, she moved to Maui, Hawaii, in 2007 and began serving the island community. Her practice there included work in midwifery-focused acupuncture for four years, helping women with fertility, labor management and pre- and post-partum care. Carrie was able to do home visits, work in the office and at the hospital.
She has returned to her Portland home to raise her two daughters, work in her large yard and vegetable garden and enjoy winter too. She loves cooking and food, and being with her friends and family.
